In the words of Al Capone in The Untouchables; “A man becomes preeminent, he’s expected to have enthusiasms. Enthusiasms, enthusiasms… What are mine? What draws my admiration? What is that which gives me joy? Baseball!”

I don’t really know anything about baseball. Nor I don’t think would I have the stomach to do what Robert de Niro did to that poor henchman with his baseball bat at the end of that particular speech…

I do however quite like economic development in the countryside. In fact, I would say it is that which gives me professional joy and furthermore, come to think of it, I don’t think my enthusiasm for achieving it when met with opposition is too far off the energetic approach Robert de Niro took with his baseball bat…

Which is why I am extremely pleased today to have secured permission within the Cotswold AONB for new workshops and office space for an established local company whom had long ago outgrown their existing premises.

This permission will secure the provision of 15 jobs in an otherwise very rural area an will enable the company to consolidate its existing operations into dedicated, well-designed premises, and move forward on the path to sustainable growth.

This is also the first time that we’ve really integrated CGI in our Planning Statements – top work as usual by my number 1 button man, Charles Board.
